Dialogue on the reunification of the island: the leaders of Cyprus agreed to resume negotiations after the 2025 elections.
In November 2025, the leaders of the divided Cyprus — Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots — expressed their readiness to resume negotiations on the island’s status with the participation of the United Nations. This is the first such step after several years of stagnation. A visit by a UN Special Envoy has been scheduled to facilitate the settlement process.
